European cities continue supporting Ukraine during the war and recovery. Tallinn shares its experience in a recent Eurocities article.

Tallinn joined other EU capital cities in calling for a stronger role for cities in shaping European Union policies and funding priorities as preparations begin for the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034).

From 17–19 February, Lviv hosted an international meeting for European municipalities, attended on behalf of Tallinn by Deputy Mayor for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Kristjan Järvan. During the visit, Tallinn and Lviv signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a framework for cooperation in civil protection, crisis preparedness and the development of community resilience.

Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski met yesterday with Halyna Shymanska, Acting Mayor of Zhytomyr, and Valentyn Arendarchuk, Head of the city's Department of Education. The meeting took place as part of an educational visit from Zhytomyr, during which cooperation between the cities in the field of education was discussed.

Today, on September 2, Tallinn’s partner city Odesa celebrates its City Day, which is linked to the city’s official founding in 1794. The date is marked with festive events, concerts, and cultural programs.

Internationally acclaimed magazine Monocle has ranked Tallinn as the world’s best city for startups in its 2025 Quality of Life survey. The publication highlights Tallinn’s strong digital infrastructure, Estonia’s e-Residency programme, business-friendly environment, and affordable cost of living.

The Tallinn City Government has decided to donate an unused mobile library bus from the Tallinn Central Library to Ukraine as humanitarian aid and will cover transportation costs up to €7,000.

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has released its 2024 global rankings for cities and countries in the conference industry. Tallinn has climbed to 57th place among cities worldwide, while Estonia ranks 44th among countries.

The City of Tallinn and Tehnopol have awarded a total of €145,000 to six Estonian companies through the Tallinnovation competition to develop and test innovative smart city solutions in Tallinn’s urban space. Tallinnovation is more than just a testing ground – it is a growth platform where technologies that create new quality in the urban environment and aim for the global market are born.

The international sail training organization Sail Training International has confirmed the host ports for the 2028 Tall Ships Races regatta. One of the selected ports is Tallinn.
