In Tallinn, the circular economy company FudLoop has expanded its network of smart food sharing pantries, which is unique in the world, with the aim of reducing food waste.

To promote separate collection of bio-waste, the City of Tallinn will provide residents of detached houses, semi-detached houses, terraced houses and two-apartment houses with home composters and collection containers on preferential terms. Applications will be accepted from 15 September until composters and bins are available.

On 22 May, Rahumäe waste transfer station will be closed for one month due to necessary construction works; customers will be directed to other waste transfer stations during this time.

During this year’s first round of non-profit music projects, 54 projects were submitted and the chosen projects received support from the city in the sum of 152,650 euros. In total, the expert commission decided to support 27 events.

The Tallinnovation competition, which supports smart city solutions, received ten applications this year. The city of Tallinn, along with the Tehnopol Science and Business Park, chose four winners from among the ten applicants. The winners will receive 100,000 euros of investment, which is a record-breaking sum.

Residents’ satisfaction with the selection of cultural events taking place in Tallinn has returned to a level as high as it was before Covid-19 but the opportunities to visit these events as much as wanted is in a downward trend. The most popular cultural events organised by the city are Tallinn Old Town Days and Tallinn Maritime Days.

Eurocities SDG Task Force has produced a new position paper calling for cities to have a stronger voice in global sustainability and governance processes.

With its first Voluntary Local Review, Tallinn aims to show how cities can make sustainability real — in planning, policy, and daily life.
