On May 3rd, the second season of the sea waste skimmer Seabin was opened at the quay of the Tallinn Old City Harbour. The environmental education activities of the Tallinn Seabin have been selected as the partnership events of the European Union's Green Week 2021 to highlight the threat of marine litter to the aquatic environment.

The month of May is dedicated to biodiversity in Tallinn’s urban environment and from 20 to 27 May, Tallinn Green Week with three international theme days will take place. Admirers of nature are welcome to take part in nature walks, bird singing evenings, open bee days and many other events.

Along with the upcoming reconstuction of Pikk tänav in the Old Town, the City of Tallinn is considering extending the car-free zone along the entire street. Feedback from residents is invited until 7 October.

In eight new locations around the Old Town new plastic-metal, beverage carton, cardboard-paper packaging and glass packaging containers were set, primarily to promote separate collection of waste.

As of December 1st, companies will change the price lists for waste collection in all the areas of Tallinn. The prices for emptying mixed waste containers will increase, while the prices for emptying other waste containers will remain the same.
