The City of Tallinn and Tehnopol have awarded a total of €145,000 to six Estonian companies through the Tallinnovation competition to develop and test innovative smart city solutions in Tallinn’s urban space. Tallinnovation is more than just a testing ground – it is a growth platform where technologies that create new quality in the urban environment and aim for the global market are born.

This year’s survey “Green City and Circular Economy,” conducted by Tallinn Strategic Management Office, reveals that residents highly value greenery and are increasingly engaging in environmentally friendly practices such as waste sorting, reuse, and growing plants.

Tallinn’s Urban Planning Department has significantly increased the speed and efficiency of planning procedures in the first half of 2025. As of mid-year, decisions have been made on a total of 44 detailed plans — the same number as in the entire year of 2023 and 20 more than during the same period in 2024.

The City of Tallinn has launched an architectural competition to find the best spatial solution for a new swimming centre on Varraku Street in Lasnamäe. Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski has signed a directive terminating the official duties of Deputy Mayors Pärtel-Peeter Pere and Viljar Jaamu in their respective areas of responsibility. Tallinn City Government has adopted the detailed plan for the Krulli quarter, giving the green light for the redevelopment of the historic Franz Krull machine factory site in Põhja-Tallinn.
