Values
- Mobility as a Service
All modes of transport – walking, cycling, public transport or driving – are equally important and need to be seen as a coherent system. Walking is an important mode of transport for all residents, including drivers. Our new approach stresses that we make plans with the aim of smooth and comfortable mobility for all, regardless of age, ability or income. Clean and affordable transport must be accessible, safe and secure for everyone. The approach of combining different modes of transport and making them equally available ensures seamless connections and allows users to get to their destination comfortably and efficiently.
Mobility screens bring together information on different modes of transport. As a pilot study, the department has installed mobility screens at major public transport hubs – Tallinn Bus Station, Baltic Station and at four Park and Ride car parks (Kalev, Gonsiori, Pirita and Oru). These informational displays help make getting around the city more convenient and accessible for all.
- Tallinn Mobility Plan 2035
The living environment of Tallinn promotes good health for everyone. Exercising and spending time outdoors is pleasant regardless of the weather. Most people move around Tallinn by fast and accessible public transport, cycling or walking. Mobility has evolved into a user-friendly service, allowing for convenient and economical combination of different modes of transport. Attractive public transport vehicles and weather-proof bus and tram shelters are an integral part of a well-designed urban space. Tallinn is designed in a way that allows everyone to move without assistance – schoolchildren, the elderly, wheelchair users, and people with prams, walkers and guide dogs. The whole urban region also has fast public transport connections with a growing user base. Car traffic is sparser, which means less pollution and congestion and more calm in the urban space.
