On the occasion of Child Protection Day, June 1st, the City of Tallinn will make a symbolic gift for children, providing free admission for children up to 19 years of age (incl.) to the Tallinn City Museum and its branches, as well as the Tallinn Zoo and Botanical Garden.

The 2023 United Nations Sustainable Development Summit took place on September 18-19 in New York, focusing on discussions about the action plan for achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and the current progress of its implementation. Prior to the event, discussions were held with representatives from various cities, during which Deputy Mayor Tiit Terik introduced Tallinn's Development Strategy, "Tallinn 2035," and discussed other initiatives.

Tallinn’s social sector budget for 2024 prioritizes providing need-based services and support to its residents, ensuring social well-being. The budget allocates €121.9 million for operational costs and €9.7 million for investments. Operational expenses in the social sector are set to increase by 22%, with enhanced support for the elderly and children. The 2024 budget for Tallinn awaits approval by the City Council.

The Tallinn City Government has submitted a budget proposal for 2024 to the City Council, totaling 1.26 billion euros, marking an increase of 79.5 million euros or 6.7 percent compared to the revised 2023 budget.

Tomorrow, on April 30, the community-based parent education center 'Kesklinna Perepesa' will open its doors at Asula Street 11. The center offers advice and support in parenting, mental health, and maintaining family relationships. All families, from expecting parents to those with children ready to start school, are welcome. The services are free of charge for residents of Tallinn

Together with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), City of Tallinn hosted a panel discussion titled “Local Perspectives - Cities Leading the Way to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” at the World Urban Forum on November 7. The discussion focused on the importance of international and national collaboration in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in urban areas. The panel was moderated by Masha Smirnova, Head of Governance at Eurocities, Europe’s largest network of cities.
