On the evening of 7 September, the high-speed catamaran Vegtind serving the Aegna line ran aground near Kalaranna, reportedly due to a technical malfunction. Until the end of the season, the line will be served by the replacement vessel Strande.

The Swedbank Tallinn Marathon and Tallinna Sügisjooks (Autumn Run) will take place on the weekend of 13–14 September, bringing tens of thousands of running enthusiasts to the districts of Põhja-Tallinn, Kesklinn, and Haabersti. The world's largest training regatta ‘The Tall Ships Races’ will not take place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and the ongoing spread of the pandemic. The regatta will return to the Baltic Sea in 2024. Instead, Tallinn will be holding an impressive maritime festival in the five ports of Tallinn this summer, taking place in 16-18 July.

In the first half of July, traffic arrangements will change in the areas of Rannamäe tee, Põhja puiestee and Kalasadama street in Põhja-Tallinn, and Toompuiestee in the city centre.

Last week, special litter bins were installed on the beaches of the Põhja-Tallinn district to prevent cigarette butts from ending up in the sea. The material collected in the bins will later be given a new life as 3D printing filament. This is initially a pilot project that will run for two months.
