The focus of Tallinn's 2024 budget in the transportation sector is on renewing the fleet, developing and modernizing the network, and increasing the eco-friendliness of public transport. Tallinn residents will continue to have access to free public transportation, and night bus service will become a permanent feature. Additionally, the salaries of bus, tram, and trolleybus drivers will increase by 15% next year.
During the Christmas period, Tallinn’s public transport will operate according to the Sunday timetable. On the evening of 31 December, traffic restrictions will be in place in the Freedom Square area due to the New Year’s concert and light show, and several bus routes will be diverted. After midnight, in the early hours of 1 January, the operating hours of a number of routes will be extended to ensure that people celebrating the New Year can return home safely by public transport.
