Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart is attending the World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2023 in Seoul, South Korea, from September 24-26, where he will deliver a presentation on reducing cities' carbon emissions.

The City of Tallinn project was among the 14 chosen by the European Urban Initiative from a total of 99 applications that will receive a five million euro grant from the Regional Development Fund.

Tallinn is implementing additional measures to prevent illegal parking on pavements. The fine will be raised by €40, in several places driving onto pavements will be prevented with posts and landscaping and the municipal police bicycle patrol will also start as a pilot project, targeting primarily parking on bicycle lanes and pavements.

The Tallinn City Government recently adopted a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which was discussed at the City Council meeting on Thursday. Among other things, the plan proposes a review of the current parking policy, but the discount for residents will remain.

Tallinn is gearing up for major investments in sports ahead of its designation as the European Capital of Sport in 2025. According to the city’s budget proposal for the next year, the largest investment in sports will be allocated to the renovation of Kadriorg Stadium, along with initiatives to expand exercise and sports facilities throughout the city.

On September 14th, Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart hosted His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Tallinn Town Hall. The meeting encompassed Tallinn's good relations with the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church, environmental issues, and the city's initiatives as the European Green Capital, among others.
