In the last three years, the time taken to process building permits in Tallinn has halved, thanks to changes in current practices.

The Tallinn City Government made a proposal to the City Council to give diplomats who reside in the capital the right to use public transport free of charge. The reason for this is that according to the new regulation coming into force on 1 July, the free parking of diplomatic missions’ vehicles in public parking spaces will be reduced.

In the coming 2023/2024 school year, Tallinn will continue paying significant attention to improving learning environments in schools and hobby schools. In September, a new building will be opened for the Mustamäe Hobby School. A total of ten more learning facilities are also in the construction or planning phase. Hiiu School, which starts operating on 1 September, will soon join the present network of schools.

Last year, the Tallinn Vital Statistics Department registered 2384 marriages, with the oldest groom being 87 and the oldest bride 79 years old. The most popular months for weddings were July and August, during which over 600 marriages were solemnized. A total of 3609 births were registered, including 48 sets of twins and one set of quadruplets.

The Tallinn City Government recently adopted a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which was discussed at the City Council meeting on Thursday. Among other things, the plan proposes a review of the current parking policy, but the discount for residents will remain.
