From this week until 31 December, the Vabaduse Square tunnel hosts an exhibition of the winning entries in the photo competition "Year-round in Tallinn 2021".

Until September 30, the exhibition „Mixed plants in community plots / Kogukondlik Tootsi peenar" is open in Solaris Centre, aiming to introduce the increasingly popular community horticulture and its positive impact on both people and urban nature. You can also take part in a microgreens workshop and a guided tour with the curator.

Organized every year at the beginning of autumn, the popular light festival, initially started in Kadrioru Park, has considerably expanded - this year, light installations will be lit both in Kadrioru Park and in many other parks in the City Centre.

On Thursday in Männi park, Tallinn Deputy Mayor Vladimir Svet and Deputy Head of Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department Tarmo Sulg presented the concept for planning and constructing the public toilets in urban space, and stressed that the city's priority is to gradually increase the share of permanent toilets.

Next year's draft city budget foresees a total of €50.1 million for operating expenditure and investments in the area of environment and environmental protection. In addition to the activities related to the European Green Capital, for example, the improvement of parks and green spaces will continue as an important part of creating a high quality urban space.

In March this year, Tallinn launched the Museum Sundays initiative at city-owned museums to raise awareness of museum activities and improve access to culture. During 2022, the initiative has attracted a large number of visitors, with 14 museums and exhibition halls now participating.

In the draft 2023 city budget, the largest share of the total investment is in the reconstruction and overhaul of roads and streets, with €78.1 million planned. Emphasis is placed on the reconstruction of major transport nodes and the overhaul and rehabilitation of streets, bridges and viaducts.

Yesterday’s snowstorm has brought 200 maintenance vehicles to the streets and the process of clearing streets of snow continues throughout the day. The conditions of the streets are currently acceptable considering the weather conditions.

In the field of education, attention was paid to improving the indoor climate and accessibility of schools and renovating kindergartens, while a major challenge was to solve the educational problems of children of war refugees from Ukraine.

According to next year's draft Tallinn city budget, the focus in the field of sports will be on creating opportunities for physical activity and sport in the urban space, as well as supporting various sports projects and international competitions.
