Since March 1, parents in Tallinn have been able to submit applications for assigning a local school for children entering the first grade at municipal schools on September 1, 2024. In just four days, over 2,200 applications have been submitted.

The City of Tallinn offers residents free legal advice on consultation days scheduled in each district. The next consultation days will be held on March 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pirita District Government and on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Põhja-Tallinn District Government.

Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart attended the European Summit of Regions and Cities in Brussels on January 24, as part of Belgium's European Union Presidency. This Wednesday, Tallinn will celebrate Estonia’s Restoration of Independence Day with its annual concert at Harjumägi, August 20th Square. The next sessions will take place on 4 September at Pirita District Government, on 11 September at Kaja Cultural Centre, and on 25 September at Lasnamäe District Government — all from 9:00–13:00.

In the 2025/26 academic year, there are 60 municipal general education schools in Tallinn, with approximately 47,000 students enrolled. Around 3,700 children are starting first grade. The city also provides a start-of-school-year allowance for students up to the age of 19.

To vote in the Tallinn City Council elections, a voter’s official address in the population register must be in Tallinn no later than 19 September 2025. The voter lists are compiled based on the population register data as of that date.

The Tallinn City Government has decided to increase several social benefit rates from January 1, 2024.
