The Tallinn City Government initiated a detailed plan in today's session for the design of up to a three-story apartment building in the central area of the Nõmme district.

With the end of the winter break, the construction of the Old City Harbour tramway in the city centre continues, affecting the daily lives and traffic arrangements of many citizens. Tallinn invites businesses to utilize city support measures aimed at mitigating the impact of the construction works.

Following the restart of the Old City Harbour tramway construction on Monday, the traffic conditions in Tallinn’s city centre, initially complicated by changes in traffic management, are gradually stabilizing. Commuters are getting accustomed to the temporary traffic arrangements, and traffic regulators are now assisting at several intersections.

Starting Friday, March 15, the reconstruction works of the Tondi railway crossing resume, leading to changes in traffic management and a temporary suspension of tram service in the Tondi area.

Following a successful pilot project in collaboration with electric scooter rental services Bolt and Tuul in central Tallinn last year, plans are underway to extend the designated parking areas for electric scooters to Kadriorg and Telliskivi this summer. The exact locations and number of parking spots will be finalized by May.

The initial phase of Tallinn's “Safe School Route” (“Turvaline koolitee”) program is set to focus on 14 schools within the city, addressing safety challenges around school vicinities such as safe sidewalks, bike lanes, street crossings, parking areas, and the implementation of traffic calming measures. Over the coming years, the program is planned to expand, encompassing all schools within Tallinn that require similar safety enhancements in their surrounding areas.

Up to five new railway crossings for pedestrians and cyclists will be built in Tallinn over the next three years.

Today, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) launches the international video series “Travel Redefined: Tourism for People and Planet.” The series, filmed across six continents, features more than 20 organisations and destinations. Representing Estonia is Tallinn’s tourism brand Visit Tallinn. The Tallinn stories focus on conference tourism and explain how even very large events can be organised in an environmentally conscious way, leaving behind a positive impact.

Due to the weather conditions on 23 August, the Ironman Tallinn team has announced that the competitions will be delayed by three hours. This change also affects the previously published public transport detour times.

The Tallinn Transport Department has expanded the parking areas for shared e-scooters, light mopeds and bicycles to Telliskivi and the Balti jaam area, as well as to the Kompassi, Raua and Kadriorg districts. In addition to the existing central city zones, 104 new parking spaces have been established.
