One of the priorities in Tallinn's 2024 budget is the development of a comfortable and safe urban space, which includes investments in transportation infrastructure and making streets more pedestrian-friendly. The city budget has allocated over 47.5 million euros for the reconstruction and major repairs of roads and streets. Key projects for the coming year include the reconstruction of Peterburi maantee and Lastekodu Street, the construction of pedestrian tunnels on Paldiski maantee, the reconstruction of the Kadaka viaduct, and the construction of the first phase of Pollinator Highway green corridor.

From September 18th to October 8th, all residents of Tallinn have the opportunity to submit proposals for projects that could be implemented in the city's public spaces next year through the participatory budget.

The City of Tallinn and the Estonian School Sports Union have entered into a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration and supporting and increasing the physical activity of school-aged students. The agreement was signed by Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart and the President of the Estonian School Sports Union, Gerd Kanter.

The Tallinn City Government has submitted a budget proposal for 2024 to the City Council, totaling 1.26 billion euros, marking an increase of 79.5 million euros or 6.7 percent compared to the revised 2023 budget.

Projects aiming to add more greenery to the city and facilities promoting active lifestyles emerged as the winners in Tallinn's 2024 participatory budget vote. One million euros have been set aside in the budget for the realization of these projects.

This autumn, several international delegations have visited Tallinn to learn about the city’s experience in urban planning, innovation, digital governance and sustainable urban mobility.
