Next week, from May 6 to May 12, residents of Tallinn can dispose of large waste at waste stations for free.

Today, in a special session, the Tallinn City Government appointed new governors for the districts of Kesklinn, Pirita, and Põhja-Tallinn. Starting today, May 3, Sander Andla will lead Kesklinn, Doris Raudsepp will head Pirita, and Külli Tammur will manage Põhja-Tallinn. All candidates have also received approval from their respective district councils.

During the upcoming long Midsummer weekend, residents of Tallinn can access medical assistance at hospital emergency departments, visit the Tallinn Dental Clinic and duty pharmacies, or call the Family Doctor Advisory Line and the Victim Support Crisis Hotline for support.

Since June 1 of last year, all properties and institutions in Tallinn are required to collect bio-waste separately. To promote waste sorting, the city continues to provide free bio-waste containers to single-family homes, semi-detached houses, and residential buildings with 3-9 apartments.

Tallinn is set to develop a comprehensive children's mental health action plan in collaboration with city departments and field experts. This initiative will be coordinated by Ott Oja, the current Executive Director of the Estonian Mental Health and Well-being Coalition (VATEK).

Beginning September 14, 2024, Tallinn residents will be able to use municipal school stadiums and sports fields free of charge on weekends and during school holidays, throughout the entire year. During the weekdays, these stadiums will be reserved for school activities.

On Thursday morning, 60 large and small sailing ships of the international sailing training regatta Tall Ships Races arrived at three ports in Tallinn. The event opened with the concert "Lainel" („On the wave“) which was specifically created for this opening.

This July, in response to an exceptional heatwave, Tallinn is prepared to open three cooling centers at Kaja Cultural Center, Salme Cultural Center, and Tondiraba Ice Hall. The city is also developing an emergency plan to address extreme heat conditions.
