As part of the European Capital of Sport programme, an Ice Sports Day will take place on Saturday, March 22, starting at 10:00 at Tondiraba Ice Hall.

If you wish to dispose of unnecessary items at home before the end of the year, you are welcome to visit Tallinn Circular Economy Center’s waste stations and the Lilleküla Circular Economy Center before the Christmas holidays.

The city has provided waste sorting stations to its kindergartens to promote environmental awareness among children and teach proper waste separation. During November and December, a total of 349 sorting stations were distributed to 52 kindergartens.

This year, Tallinn will welcome the new year with a concert and light show, foregoing fireworks as part of the celebration. On New Year’s Eve, January 1, early hours, several lines will run longer to ensure partygoers can get home using public transport.

To ensure environmentally friendly disposal of old Christmas trees, Tallinn has opened 83 collection points where residents can drop off their trees free of charge. Trees can also be taken to waste stations or have them picked up by the local waste management service.

Today, the cornerstone will be laid for the Lasnamäe Circular Economy Center, which will provide residents with convenient opportunities to dispose of waste, repair items, and reuse them. The center supports the city's commitment to more efficient waste management and the broader goal of reducing waste and promoting the sustainable use of resources. The center is scheduled to open in 2026.

Tallinn parents have until 25 March to submit applications for assigning a municipal school to children starting first grade in the 2025/2026 academic year. Over 4,500 children will reach school age this year, and Tallinn Education Department is still awaiting applications or notices of opting out for more than 1,000 children.

Construction work on water and district heating pipelines is ongoing until the end of June in the Kristiine district, specifically along Käbliku and Koskla streets and the section of Sõpruse puiestee between them. Work on Käbliku Street began on May 6. From May 13 to June 3, the bus lane on Sõpruse puiestee heading towards the city centre will be closed, and Koskla Street will be partially closed (near buildings No. 16, 18, and 22).

This May, Tallinn hosts its spring collection rounds for hazardous waste and reusable items during two weekends—May 11-12 and May 18-19.

Bicycle repair stations have been installed near the entrances of Tallinn’s waste stations, available for use 24/7.
