From September 3 to October 1, Tallinn is waiting for proposals on which projects could be financed from the city's participatory budget in 2022.

From September 18 until September 26, the seventh Ethnic Culture Days take place in Tallinn, starting with a traditional ethno-fair on the Town Hall Square on Saturday. The programme consists of free workshops, exhibitions and cinema screenings, concerts and overviews of the culture and customs of different nationalities living in Tallinn.

The construction of the lighting solution in the pedestrian tunnels of the Haabersti traffic junction has been completed. The newly installed lights in the Suurhall and Zoo tunnels replicate the movement of people in the walkway and change colour according to the speed of movement.

Prototron, a facility that supports the implementation of smart ideas, has opened its first call for proposals this year. Last year, Prototron donated a total of 170,000 euros to ideas that would make people’s daily lives better and more comfortable, bringing the total amount of grants under the facility to more than 1 million euros. Applications can be submitted within one month – until 25 March.

Tallinn Enterprise Centre invites entrepreneurs to seminars organized alongside with Estonian universities, which offer knowledge on business-related topics and enable to develop the skills of entrepreneurship.

A total of 40 historically significant objects were recently illuminated in the Old Town of Tallinn, among others Fat Margaret, Patkuli steps, Kiek in de Kök and Tall Hermann. Now, a free map application and an audio guide have been created for visitors of the light track to learn more about the history of the objects.

With the package of additional support measures proposed by the Tallinn City Government, Tallinn plans to exempt traders, caterers and other enterprises operating in the city's commercial premises across the city from paying rent until the end of April.

A challenging year 2020 has put Estonians and Latvians invented – more than 500 ideas were submitted to Prototron. On 29th of January 2021, the winners of the Autumn 2020 round were announced – a record 120,000 euros were shared between 8 teams. So far Prototron has helped 86 technological solutions bought to market and invested more than one million euros in the implementation of smart ideas.

Tallinn is aspiring to become the City of Music of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network this year. Currently, 47 cities from all over the world belong to the network of Music Cities, 19 of them from Europe.

For the first time, the city of Tallinn will participate in the EXPO 2020 world exhibition in the Estonian pavilion, which, postponed due to the pandemic, will open its doors to visitors in October this year.
