The Vanasadam (Old City Harbour) tramway was officially opened today, with regular tram services set to begin on Sunday, December 1.

The Tallinn Education Department has announced the citywide student music competition “Tallinn Talent 2025”, which will culminate in two competition rounds and a grand final concert at the Estonia Concert Hall. Registration is open until February 6, 2024.

The first phase of renovation works has been completed at the historic House of the Blackheads, managed by the Tallinn Philharmonic Society. These accolades highlight Tallinn's contribution to organizing the international regatta, engaging young people, and promoting maritime culture.

Construction of the Lasnamäe Circular Economy Center is set to begin soon, following a construction agreement signed by Tallinn Property Department, Tallinn Circular Economy Center, and Fund Ehitus OÜ. This will be Tallinn's second purpose-built circular economy center, aimed at helping residents manage waste closer to home and in a more environmentally conscious way.

At a gala held in Brussels, the president of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), Gian Francesco Lupattelli, and European Commissioner for Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, presented Tallinn with the title of European Capital of Sport 2025.

In 2024, Tallinn made significant strides in public transport with strategic decisions such as a complete renewal of the trolleybus fleet with battery-powered trolleys and signing a 10-year contract with Tallinna Linnatransport AS to ensure the long-term stability and development of the city’s public transport system. This year also saw the completion of the second phase of the public transport network modernization and the redirection of tram line no. 2 through the Old City Harbour.

Tallinn is proposing changes to electric car parking regulations in the city center. Under the new plan, only electric car owners or responsible users registered as Tallinn residents in the Population Register would be eligible for free parking. The new rule, which requires approval by the City Council, is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.

The city has provided waste sorting stations to its kindergartens to promote environmental awareness among children and teach proper waste separation. During November and December, a total of 349 sorting stations were distributed to 52 kindergartens.
