Tallinn has shown progress in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index) 2023 analysis, a program renowned as the most reliable benchmarking and improvement tool in tourism sustainability. Since joining the program in 2021, Tallinn has consistently improved its performance. Today, it surpasses the average scores of cities in North America, Eastern and Western Europe, and also ranks higher than any other city in Eastern Europe in individual assessments.
The fourth participatory budgeting idea collection initiative in Tallinn has concluded successfully, with 492 ideas submitted, out of which 149 proposals have been selected for public voting. Residents can cast their votes for their favorite proposals starting Monday, November 20, until December 3, 2023.
Tallinn has 58 municipal general education schools as of the 2023/24 school year. 48,700 students will start in these schools in September. More than 3860 of them will enter the first grade. The city offers an allowance at the beginning of the school year for students under the age of 19.
On Sunday 21 May at 2 pm, the festive closing concert of the Tallinn Talent 2023 youth music competition will be held at the Estonia Concert Hall, where its initiator and patron Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart will acknowledge the winners and present them with city scholarships. The free gala concert is open to the public.
