Estonia’s premier music industry event Tallinn Music Week (TMW) reveals the next wave of speakers for the Creative Impact Conference taking place within the event on 6th – 7th May.

Tallinn City Government has assembled the UNESCO Music City Council, which will implement the Tallinn Music Strategy 2022-2025. The Council will comprise two members of the City Government and ten people from influential music organisations. Its work will be organised by the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department.

Tallinn is a UNESCO City of Music from October 2021, and in this context the city has opened a call for applications to support music events taking place in Tallinn. In the first music grant round of the year, Tallinn awarded a total of €53,584 to 11 music projects.

The sixth episode of the monthly podcast Tallinn Talks is out, with Tallinn Christmas programme and becoming the UNESCO City of Music touched upon as the main topics. All the interviews are also available in video format.

Tallinn will become a UNESCO City of Music from 2022, and the development of the Tallinn City Theatre will be the biggest cultural investment in next year's city budget.

Tallinn Day is celebrated as fitting to a UNESCO City of Music - with a wide range of music events and concerts. The programme starts on Friday 13 May with a music morning in Tallinn schools.

A total of 40 historically significant objects were recently illuminated in the Old Town of Tallinn, among others Fat Margaret, Patkuli steps, Kiek in de Kök and Tall Hermann. Now, a free map application and an audio guide have been created for visitors of the light track to learn more about the history of the objects.

Tallinn is aspiring to become the City of Music of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network this year. Currently, 47 cities from all over the world belong to the network of Music Cities, 19 of them from Europe.

The Tallinn City Government approved the new composition of the Tallinn UNESCO World Heritage Council.

Tallinn City Government has confirmed Lennart Sundja as Director of the Tallinn Philharmonic from 1 June.
