ACES of Europe President Gian Francesco Lupattelli handed over the title of European Capital of Sport 2025 to Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart in Brussels last night.

Tallinn has been selected as the host city for the 2025 International Children's Games that takes place under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee. Last week, Igor Topole, President of the International Children’s Games, and Secretary General Hugh Waters, visited Tallinn to inspect its sports infrastructure and met with city leaders to discuss the details of organizing the event.

Tallinn, as the European Capital of Sport 2025, aims to generate positive and lasting value throughout its title year, encouraging residents to be more active and lead healthier lives.

At a gala held in Brussels, the president of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), Gian Francesco Lupattelli, and European Commissioner for Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, presented Tallinn with the title of European Capital of Sport 2025.

As part of its upcoming title year as the European Capital of Sport, Tallinn is marking World Car-Free Day on September 22 with a strong focus on sports.

Tallinn, the European Capital of Sport 2025, is inviting cycling enthusiasts to join a relaxing bike tour through neighboring municipalities on Saturday, October 5. The 25-kilometer ride will follow a route through Rae, Kiili, Saku, and Saue parishes, with a steady, easy pace for riders of all levels.

Tallinn – European Capital of Sport 2025 will host a figure skating gala on Saturday, 22 March at 15:00 at Tondiraba Ice Hall, featuring European Champion Niina Petrõkina.

As part of the Tallinn – European Capital of Sport 2025 program, Combat Sports Day will take place on Saturday, February 22, at Sõle Sports Centre, offering a chance to explore various combat sports.
