According to the new waste management plan, Tallinn will expand separate collection of biowaste and textile waste, and turn waste collection stations into circular economy centres.
Tallinn Day is celebrated as fitting to a UNESCO City of Music - with a wide range of music events and concerts. The programme starts on Friday 13 May with a music morning in Tallinn schools.
The second day of the Tallinn Day program, 14 May, will be dedicated to the city districts, which will organize several exciting events. One of the highlights of the spring season will be the flower-planting workshops in the districts of Kesklinn, Haabersti, Nõmme, Kristiine, Lasnamäe, and Põhja-Tallinn.
In June, July and August, the Tallinn cycle paramedics team is once again patrolling in the Tallinn Old Town and City Centre. The cycle paramedics are able to respond quickly and operatively to medical emergencies in crowded areas.
During the upcoming Victory Day and Midsummer's Day, on June 23 and 24, and on the following holidays, people with health concerns can turn to the emergency rooms of hospitals; the Tallinn Dental Clinic and emergency pharmacies are open; and guidance is given by the Family Doctor's Advice Line.
Tallinn Day celebrates the acquisition of Lübeck city rights in 1248, which included Tallinn as a member of the Union of European Cities. On Monday, 15 May, Tallinn will be 775 years old. The birthday events will begin on 14 May, when Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart will open the Short Leg Gate.
The City of Tallinn and the Police and Border Guard Board are starting the ‘Lock or Lose’ information campaign, the purpose of which is to prevent bicycle theft and raise people's awareness in avoiding becoming a victim of theft. The police organised a similar campaign a couple of years ago and this year, Tallinn will be joining it as well.
