Tallinn Waste Centre will install 20 new containers for reusable clothing in the city this year. The first five new containers are located at Hiiu tänav 39, Haabersti tänav 1, Jõeküla tee 13, Endla tänav 23a and at the packaging point at the intersection of Magasin and Vaikse streets.
Tallinn invites everyone to welcome the New Year at Freedom Square, where the celebration will feature a concert with performances by ensemble LAINE, folk-infused beats of Trad.Attack!, rapper nublu and an innovative light show titled “New Beginning.” Due to the concert, there will be traffic closures in the area and rerouted public transport lines to accommodate the festivities.
The Estonian Society for the Protection of Animals (ESPA) and the Tallinn Urban Environmental and Public Works Department are organising yet another international conference of animal welfare, taking place on 8 September 2022 in Tallinn Teachers' House (Raekoja plats 14). This year’s conference focuses on exotic animals and helping animals in during war. Among the speakers are specialists from the United States, Ukraine, Estonia and other European countries.
From August 1, 2022, applications for "Bike to School" support can be submitted in Tallinn. A one-time subsidy of up to 100 euros is intended for the purchase of a bicycle for children aged 10–15 who have received their cyclist driving licenses this year, i.e. in 2022.
From today, after a temporary pause in the home doctor service during the summer months, it is once again possible to call a doctor to tend to a sick child in Tallinn over the weekend.
For the eighth time, Tallinn will host Days National Cultures from 16 to 25 September, highlighting the national minorities and their cultures living in Tallinn. The event offers free concerts, film screenings, picnics, language and culture cafés, children's events and much more.
To promote separate collection of bio-waste, the City of Tallinn will provide residents of detached houses, semi-detached houses, terraced houses and two-apartment houses with home composters and collection containers on preferential terms. Applications will be accepted from 15 September until composters and bins are available.
A total of 415 ideas for improving city life in the coming year were submitted by Tallinn citizens to the Tallinn participatory budget call for ideas, with the highest number of proposals intended to improve the areas of youth, sports and leisure.
