From 15 to 17 September, thousands of lights will be lit in Kadriorg Park, Pae Park, Tallinn Old Town and Männi Park, inviting residents and visitors to take an illuminated walk. The theme of this year's outdoor light festival 'Valgus Kõnnib' (Wandering Lights Festival) is "Stories of the night".
The Tallinnovation competition, which supports smart city solutions, received ten applications this year. The city of Tallinn, along with the Tehnopol Science and Business Park, chose four winners from among the ten applicants. The winners will receive 100,000 euros of investment, which is a record-breaking sum.
During the two previous weekends, Tallinn residents brought in 25 735, 96 kg of hazardous waste and eight tonnes of usable items. The residents of Tallinn can dispose of household hazardous waste in waste collection points. The Tallinn Waste Management Centre has six collection points for hazardous waste, which are open at weekends. The service is free of charge.
Tomorrow, 13 October, construction work will begin in the Seli forest, which was cleaned up this spring, during which the Seli forest will be transformed into a safe family park.
Tallinn’s ice-skating rinks will open on November 19. All townspeople are welcome to join the winter fun. The capital's schools have the opportunity to organize free physical education classes on the ice rinks and there will also be free access to all senior citizens.
As of December 1st, companies will change the price lists for waste collection in all the areas of Tallinn. The prices for emptying mixed waste containers will increase, while the prices for emptying other waste containers will remain the same.
An inspection of winter maintenance equipment took place in eight districts of Tallinn this week to check the readiness of snow clearing machines for the start of the season. New maintenance partners will start this year in several districts.
This Sunday, 6 November, admission to museums affiliated to Tallinn Museum is free of charge. The next and last Museum Sunday in which the entry is free will take place on 4 December.
