Despite the fact that The Tall Ships Races 2021 will be postponed to 2024, the city will be holding a grandiose maritime festival and several other traditional summer events.
The world's largest training regatta ‘The Tall Ships Races’ will not take place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and the ongoing spread of the pandemic. The regatta will return to the Baltic Sea in 2024. Instead, Tallinn will be holding an impressive maritime festival in the five ports of Tallinn this summer, taking place in 16-18 July.
Tallinn has been ranked second in the 2022 Emerging Europe Business-Friendly City Perception Index for smart city development. Estonia tops the ranking of Eastern and Central European countries in terms of business environment conducive to foreign investment.
The Tallinn City Government initiated the development document "Tallinn Old Town Development Plan 2023-2035" and established the outline for the development plan.
The City of Tallinn has signed a contract for the construction of the Tiigriorg (Tiger Valley) exhibition in Tallinn Zoo with the joint contractor ATEMO OÜ/EG Ehitus AS. The works will start in the second half of July, after the end of the timber harvest halt due to breeding season.
From August 1, 2022, applications for "Bike to School" support can be submitted in Tallinn. A one-time subsidy of up to 100 euros is intended for the purchase of a bicycle for children aged 10–15 who have received their cyclist driving licenses this year, i.e. in 2022.
The speed limits will be lowered on Tallinn's streets to ensure safer traffic. The maximum speed allowed will be 30 km/h on a number of inner district roads and 40 km/h on some of the larger streets in the city centre.
The Tallinn City Property Department has launched a design competition for the Päikene and Pääsupesa kindergartens in the Põhja-Tallinn district to find environmentally sustainable solutions that would allow for the flexible adaptation of factory-made wooden modules to the kindergarten's needs. The deadline for submission of tenders is 11 October at 10 am.
