Tallinn is focused on environmental sustainability, one of six Factors in the ICF Method defining success for cities and regions in the 21st Century.

Following through on its vision to ensure that sustainability, environmental friendliness and balanced development go hand in hand, the city has joined over sixty- six global destinations who benchmark with the GDS-Index.

For the week after the school break, from November 1-5, students in grades 4 to 8 in Tallinn municipal schools will be sent to distance learning. Students in grades 1 to 3 and grades 9 to 12, as well as students with special educational needs will continue in contact learning.

At the EUROCITIES Annual Conference “The Power of Cities - Transforming Society” held in Leipzig on 5 November, Tallinn was re-elected to the organisation's 12-member board for the second time.

The Tallinn City Property Department has launched a design competition for the Päikene and Pääsupesa kindergartens in the Põhja-Tallinn district to find environmentally sustainable solutions that would allow for the flexible adaptation of factory-made wooden modules to the kindergarten's needs. The deadline for submission of tenders is 11 October at 10 am.

Today, the City of Tallinn signed a design and construction contract with Merko Ehitus Eesti AS and KMG Inseneriehituse AS for the construction of a tram line connecting Tallinn Old City Harbour and the future Ülemiste Terminal. The cost of the contract is €36.5 million plus VAT, and the construction works are due in February 2025.

On Friday, 25 November from 8-9 am, three sports halls and three winter swimming centers in Tallinn will be hosting a sports morning, where everyone can take part in free training sessions.
