In the coming week, from 21 to 27 November, residents of Tallinn will once again dispose of bulky waste at waste collection points free of charge.

Tallinn's 2023 budget includes bridge funding through Tallinn Industrial Parks to start construction of the Tallinn Film Wonderland. In the area of entrepreneurship, attention will also be paid to promoting Tallinn as an attractive tourist destination, supporting small businesses and green innovation. Operational expenditure is planned to be €2.6 million.

During the free waste collection week, almost three times as much bulky waste was brought to Tallinn’s waste collection stations than during a regular week in November.

The above-zero temperatures that arrived on Tuesday will persist for a week with both sleet and rain expected. The changeable weather conditions could cause ice to form on buildings, while snow and slush could make it difficult to walk on pavements.

From August 12 to August 18, the Tallinn Waste Centre is organizing a campaign for the free disposal of bulk waste, allowing residents of Tallinn to drop off their large waste items at any of the city’s four waste stations.

On Friday, August 30, the Kultuuriöö (Culture Night) event, "Ääretud silmapiirid (Boundless horizons)," will transform Tallinn's urban space into a vibrant center of cultural activities. In the evening, a special concert will take place at the Viru Keskus bus terminal, and passengers on night buses departing from the Balti Jaam station will be treated to literary readings.

Tallinn Waste Centre conducted a free large waste collection campaign from August 12 to August 18, during which residents of Tallinn brought a total of 1,883 cubic meters of bulk waste to the waste stations.

Today, the Tallinn City Government sent a draft decision to the City Council to rename the Tallinna Jäätmekeskus (Tallinn Waste Center) as the Tallinna Ringmajanduskeskus (Tallinn Circular Economy Center). The name change reflects the shift in focus from waste management to circular economy activities.

Packaging waste accounts for around 60% of household waste and separate collection of packaging does not create more waste but significantly reduces the volume of mixed municipal waste. Packages can be brought to public packaging waste collection containers or to waste stations.

The results of the Tallinn Strategic Management Office’s survey “Green City and Circular Economy” show a significant increase in the sorting of waste at home, at the workplace, and in public spaces.
