Despite the fact that The Tall Ships Races 2021 will be postponed to 2024, the city will be holding a grandiose maritime festival and several other traditional summer events.

The world's largest training regatta ‘The Tall Ships Races’ will not take place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and the ongoing spread of the pandemic. The regatta will return to the Baltic Sea in 2024. Instead, Tallinn will be holding an impressive maritime festival in the five ports of Tallinn this summer, taking place in 16-18 July.

Caused by a major water leakage on the corner of Mere puiestee and Ahtri street, the traffic of tram line No. 1 is currently stopped and the tram line No. 2 is temporarily running on a free schedule on the route Vana-Lõuna – Suur Paala. A replacement bus line is running between Kopli and Hobujaama tram stops.

As of Monday 11 July 2022, the route of bus number 3 will be changed in the city centre, with the bus no longer passing through Mere puiestee, but instead going from city centre to Toompuiestee and from there to Kalamaja and Kopli.

In the first half of July, traffic arrangements will change in the areas of Rannamäe tee, Põhja puiestee and Kalasadama street in Põhja-Tallinn, and Toompuiestee in the city centre.

The speed limits will be lowered on Tallinn's streets to ensure safer traffic. The maximum speed allowed will be 30 km/h on a number of inner district roads and 40 km/h on some of the larger streets in the city centre.

Tallinn Song Festival Grounds Foundation and Tallinn Strategic Management Office are launching a public design competition to find a comprehensive spatial vision for the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds that would allow for an expansion and a more varied use of the grounds, while preserving the tradition of the Song Festivals. The deadline for submission of tenders is 7 November 2022 at 17:00.

The Tallinn City Property Department has launched a design competition for the Päikene and Pääsupesa kindergartens in the Põhja-Tallinn district to find environmentally sustainable solutions that would allow for the flexible adaptation of factory-made wooden modules to the kindergarten's needs. The deadline for submission of tenders is 11 October at 10 am.

Today, the City of Tallinn signed a design and construction contract with Merko Ehitus Eesti AS and KMG Inseneriehituse AS for the construction of a tram line connecting Tallinn Old City Harbour and the future Ülemiste Terminal. The cost of the contract is €36.5 million plus VAT, and the construction works are due in February 2025.

Next weekend, on September 10 and 11, the Tallinn Marathon will bring more than ten thousand runners from more than forty countries to Tallinn, causing several temporary changes to traffic and public transport in the city.
