Tallinn increases subsidies for school meals from 1 September
Tallinn City Government has decided to increase the city's subsidy for school meals for pupils from 1 September 2022, bringing the cost of school meals to €1.56 per day. In Tallinn, school meals are free of charge for both primary and secondary school students.
From today it´s possible to apply for support to buy a bicycle for a school child in Tallinn
From August 1, 2022, applications for "Bike to School" support can be submitted in Tallinn. A one-time subsidy of up to 100 euros is intended for the purchase of a bicycle for children aged 10–15 who have received their cyclist driving licenses this year, i.e. in 2022.
Tallinn pays a start-of-school allowance to all students up to the age of 19
From this year, the City of Tallinn is paying a yearly €50 allowance to all primary, secondary and vocational school pupils at the start of the new school year. This a supplement to the existing €320 allowance for Tallinn children entering the first grade.
Nearly 48 600 pupils start the school year in Tallinn schools
In Tallinn's 57 municipal schools, 48,589 pupils will start the school year, including 3,868 first-graders.
Home doctor can be called for Tallinn children up to 12 years old
From today, after a temporary pause in the home doctor service during the summer months, it is once again possible to call a doctor to tend to a sick child in Tallinn over the weekend.
Next year the current kindergarten fees will remain the same for Tallinn residents
Tallinn will continue to compensate families for the increase in kindergarten fees in the new year - parents will receive a subsidy or compensation if the child and at least one parent are continuously resident in Tallinn from 31 December 2022 onwards.
