During the two previous weekends, Tallinn residents brought in 25 735, 96 kg of hazardous waste and eight tonnes of usable items. The residents of Tallinn can dispose of household hazardous waste in waste collection points. The Tallinn Waste Management Centre has six collection points for hazardous waste, which are open at weekends. The service is free of charge.
Next year's budget for Tallinn's education sector includes a pay rise for school and nursery school teachers. The 2023 budget also includes increased payments for school lunches and other investments for educational establishments.
In the draft 2023 city budget, the largest share of the total investment is in the reconstruction and overhaul of roads and streets, with €78.1 million planned. Emphasis is placed on the reconstruction of major transport nodes and the overhaul and rehabilitation of streets, bridges and viaducts.
From 7 March, construction works will start for the first phase of the Vanasadama tramline, causing changes in the traffic regulation in the city center. The construction will begin on Gonsiori and Laikmaa streets, which will lead to the closure of Gonsiori street in the direction out of the city center between Laikmaa and Reimani streets and Laikmaa street between Gonsiori and Narva mnt towards Narva mnt.
In order to improve the mobility of pedestrians and cyclists, The City of Tallinn plans to build a cycling lane between J.Poska and Reidi streets. The construction project is waiting for comments of all Tallinn residents. In addition to the construction of the new pedestrian lane, new street lighting and greenery is planned to be added to the cycling lane.
On Monday, 20 February, at 10 am traffic regulations will change on Pronksi street. On Pronksi and Jõe streets one lane will be opened on both streets in both directions.
Due to the reconstruction works, Pronksi tn will be closed to normal traffic from 10 March from 7 pm until 12 March at 10 pm in the section from Narva mnt to Tartu mnt. Normal traffic will be maintained along Gonsiori tn, and from Tartu mnt and Liivalaia tn it will be possible to travel along Pronksi tn until J. Kunderi tn.
On Saturday, May 15, Tallinn Day will be celebrated for the 20th time. In view of the current restrictions, various opportunities will be offered to participate in Tallinn Day from the beginning of the week.
