The Mayor of Tallinn, Mihhail Kõlvart, signed Tallinn's accession to the European Green City Accord, which sets objectives for the city's air, water, noise, biodiversity and circular economy.

At the end of March, the EU project "Urban Eco Islands“ was officially completed on the island of Aegna, which developed a number of environmentally friendly solutions.

Today, Tallinn unveiled a Climate Strategy that sets the goal of making the capital climate neutral by 2050. The progressive Tallinn Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation Plan aims to reduce the urban and economic impact on the climate in a way that enriches the economy and the urban environment. Four innovative solutions were selected from this year’s application round of the Tallinnovation smart city competition, organized in cooperation of the Science Park Tehnopol and the City of Tallinn. The winners were road safety sensors, solar-powered luminaries, drones for rescue operations and an innovative package recycling solution.

The call for proposals for the Tallinn's second participatory budget 2022 was a success - the people of Tallinn submitted a total of 389 ideas for promoting city life. The largest number of proposals was submitted for developing the urban environment.

The 18th Tallinn Entrepreneurship Day took place on Tuesday 28 September and included more than 40 events dedicated to participants ranging from brand new entrepreneurs to senior executives. In total, 2000 people attended the seminars in person and online. This year’s Tallinn Entrepreneurship Day was a hybrid event – selected seminars were streamed online, but the main programme took place in person. This was made possible with the help of 40 partners.

In anticipation of Advent, Tallinn will be decorated with fairytale-like winter lights - Christmas decorations and various lighting solutions will be installed in the Old Town and all over the city. People are invited to visit the Christmas Market, enjoy ice skating in various ice rinks and take part in several events.

Today, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay announced 49 new cities that were designated as members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Among them is Tallinn, which will bear the title of UNESCO City of Music from 2022.
