Tallinn has announced a new international design tender for the Tallinn Hospital, the largest hospital complex in Estonia. The deadline for submissions is October 22.

Starting Monday, August 19, all five tram lines in Tallinn will be back in operation. Tram services had been temporarily disrupted due to the construction of the Old City Harbour tram line and the construction of a grade-separated railway crossing at Tondi.

UNESCO City of Music Tallinn will commemorate Estonia’s Restoration of Independence Day with a traditional concert at Harjumägi’s 20th of August Square. The concert will take place on Tuesday, August 20, at 14:00 and is free for all. Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski will greet fellow citizens on this festive day.

Next weekend, on August 24-25, the international triathlon event IRONMAN Tallinn 2024 will take place, resulting in temporary traffic restrictions and changes in public transport routes in both Tallinn and Harjumaa. In Tallinn, the temporary changes will mainly affect the Haabersti district, with parking and traffic restrictions as well as changes to public transport schedules.

From August 26 to 30, asphalting work will take place on Varraku Street in the Lasnamäe district, resulting in temporary changes to bus routes and stop locations for bus lines 31, 44, 54, and 58.

The City of Tallinn is offering residents free legal consultations on designated legal advice days scheduled across various districts. Following a summer break, the next legal advice days will be held on September 5 from 1 pm to 6 pm in the Lasnamäe district administration, and on September 19 from 1 pm to 6 pm in the Kristiine district administration.

Münchhausen Productions OÜ will be conducting film shoots on September 9, 11, 16, 17, and 18 in the Kesklinn, Lasnamäe, and Nõmme districts. These shoots will cause temporary road closures for both vehicles and pedestrians. Traffic controllers will be present at all locations to assist local residents and other commuters.

This autumn, Tallinn is planning several updates to the public transport network to improve connections between city districts and offer more convenient transfer options. Today, the Tallinn City Government sent a draft decision to the City Council to rename the Tallinna Jäätmekeskus (Tallinn Waste Center) as the Tallinna Ringmajanduskeskus (Tallinn Circular Economy Center). The name change reflects the shift in focus from waste management to circular economy activities.

Packaging waste accounts for around 60% of household waste and separate collection of packaging does not create more waste but significantly reduces the volume of mixed municipal waste. Packages can be brought to public packaging waste collection containers or to waste stations.
