This autumn, the City of Tallinn and the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities have launched a pilot project in which city buses and waste collection vehicles will begin detecting damaged or missing traffic signs. Smart sensors, or cameras, installed on the vehicles will transmit real-time information to the city about the condition of traffic signs.

Starting 1 September, Tallinn’s public transport will switch to the autumn–winter schedule, which means timetable changes for many bus and tram lines.

In February, the City of Tallinn and Viimsi Municipality signed a joint memorandum of understanding, under which bus line No. 1, which currently ends in Viimsi Centre, will be extended to Vimka Ski Centre starting 1 September.

From Friday, 15 July until 14 September, passengers may travel free of charge in Mustamäe by self-driving shuttle on the inner district roads between Mustamäe tee, Tammsaare tee and Ehitajate tee.

On New Year's Eve, due to a concert at Freedom Square, the area will be closed to traffic and bus and trolley lines passing through will be rerouted. To ensure everyone can conveniently return home, key public transport lines in the city will operate until 3 am on January 1.

Starting from 1 September until the end of the month, a self-driving bus will be operating in Kadriorg from Monday to Saturday. Riding the bus is free for passengers. The two-kilometre route starts and ends at Kumu Art Museum.
