Tallinn has shown progress in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index) 2023 analysis, a program renowned as the most reliable benchmarking and improvement tool in tourism sustainability. Since joining the program in 2021, Tallinn has consistently improved its performance. Today, it surpasses the average scores of cities in North America, Eastern and Western Europe, and also ranks higher than any other city in Eastern Europe in individual assessments.

Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart visited Barcelona on November 7-9 to attend the Mayors’ Summit held within the framework of the Smart City World Congress 2023. The Mayors' summit calls for greater involvement of cities in EU policy-making and European democracy.

This week, the ACES of Europe Validation Committee got to know the opportunities for sports and the organisation of sports in Tallinn – the prerequisites for the title of European Capital of Sport 2025 are created by local and national sport events taking place here in addition to the infrastructure supporting sports. Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart attended the European Summit of Regions and Cities in Brussels on January 24, as part of Belgium's European Union Presidency. The summit centered on discussions about the future of urban policy, emphasizing the growing significance of cities in the new European policy framework, and proposing ways to ensure greater city involvement in European Union decision-making processes.

During this year’s first round of non-profit music projects, 54 projects were submitted and the chosen projects received support from the city in the sum of 152,650 euros. In total, the expert commission decided to support 27 events.
