Tallinn Day celebrates the acquisition of Lübeck city rights in 1248, which included Tallinn as a member of the Union of European Cities. On Monday, 15 May, Tallinn will be 775 years old. The birthday events will begin on 14 May, when Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart will open the Short Leg Gate.

Due to a technical failure of the ramp at Viru Keskus bus terminal, buses 1, 8A, 14, 18, 20A, 29, 34, 38, and 44 will not stop at the Viru bus terminal on Wednesday, 7 January, but at the Hobujaama stop in front of Apollo Plaza.

Tallinn will once again open Christmas tree collection points across the city this year, where residents can dispose of natural Christmas trees free of charge after the holidays. The opening times of the collection points vary by district – in some districts the points are already open, while in others they will open shortly.

Tallinn families with two or more children who go to kindergarten can apply for a place fee exemption. The exemption can be awarded if a parent and their children have registered residency in Tallinn and a parent has made an application.

Tallinn creates emergency centres in every district, or institutions that are independent from outside service providers. The purpose of these centres is to provide help, advice and information during large-scale electricity or water outages, fire or other crises. While the emergency centres are mostly located in city district administration buildings that people are accustomed to visiting, the network is planned to be expanded.

For the upcoming year, Tallinn's budget allocates nearly 396 million euros for educational operations, representing almost 41% of the total operating costs. The primary focuses include the transition to Estonian-language education, increased investment, and raising the minimum wage for teachers.

Today marked the reopening of the Tallinn Athletics Hall, following extensive renovations. The facility now boasts significantly improved conditions for both training and hosting competitions in various sports. In addition to athletics, the hall is equipped to host competitions in judo, wrestling, karate, fencing, shooting, weightlifting, and other sports.

Tallinn's 2024 participatory budgeting vote continues for four more days, with the deadline for casting votes being midnight on Sunday, December 3. As of today, approximately 5,430 Tallinn residents have already voted for their favorite projects.

The 20th annual Tallinn Entrepreneurship Day takes place on September 26th at the Viru Conference Center. The theme of the event is "Skills that Matter in Future Entrepreneurship," emphasizing the development of entrepreneurial skills and their significance in a changing business environment.
