In the 2025/26 academic year, there are 60 municipal general education schools in Tallinn, with approximately 47,000 students enrolled. Around 3,700 children are starting first grade. The city also provides a start-of-school-year allowance for students up to the age of 19.

Tallinn has announced a single-stage architecture competition to seek out a new design that would fit the concepts of Koidu tänav as a home street as well as the main street of Uus-Maailm. The competition covers the area between Suur-Ameerika tänav, Koidu tänav and Pärnu maantee.

Today, on April 15, representatives from the City of Tallinn and the architectural firm Sammas Arhitektuuribüroo OÜ unveiled the project for a new school building and its construction progress at Karjamaa Street 18, Põhja-Tallinn. In response to the growing demand for school places due to new developments in the area, the city plans to renovate a building formerly used as a school until 2021 and open a new primary school with 864 student places.

Yesterday, the Tallinn Urban Planning Department honored the owners, architects, and construction companies of historical buildings that were excellently restored and refurbished last year.
