A unique lighting solution installed in the tunnels in Haabersti
The construction of the lighting solution in the pedestrian tunnels of the Haabersti traffic junction has been completed. The newly installed lights in the Suurhall and Zoo tunnels replicate the movement of people in the walkway and change colour according to the speed of movement.
Tallinners can take part in a range of Let's Do It clean-ups
This weekend, Tallinners can get involved in a series of community clean-ups and help make the city cleaner as part of the Let's Do It campaign. Helping hands are welcome in Põhja-Tallinn, Haabersti, Kesklinn, Nõmme and Kristiine districts, and activities take place on Friday and Saturday.
More and more residents in neighbouring parishes use waste stations in Tallinn
The City of Tallinn signed an annual cooperation agreements with Viimsi and Saue municipalities, under which residents of Viimsi are able to use the Pärnamäe waste station and residents of Saue parish the Pääsküla waste station under the same conditions as Tallinn residents. Due to the increase in the number of visitors, the contract fee for Viimsi parish has increased by 72 per cent and that of Saue parish by 26 per cent compared to the previous year.
On Estonian Literature Day, the Tallinn awards the Tammsaare Novel Prize
On Monday, 30 January, the City of Tallinn, in cooperation with the Tallinn Literary Centre and the Estonian Writers' Union, will award the Tammsaare Novel Prize for the fifth time. Flags will also be raised for the first time on the day to mark Estonian Literature Day.
Sand used to treat melting asphalt in Tallinn
High air temperatures have pushed road surfaces in Tallinn above 50 degrees Celsius, causing heated bitumen to rise to the surface in some road sections. This is most common on busy streets and at junctions.
