City government appoints new district heads for Kesklinn and Pirita
At today’s meeting, the Tallinn City Government appointed new district governors for Kesklinn and Pirita. Starting from August 20th, Ahti Kallikorm will lead the Kesklinn district, and Ivan Lavrentjev will head the Pirita district.
A water leak in the corner of Mere and Ahtri streets is holding tram traffic
Caused by a major water leakage on the corner of Mere puiestee and Ahtri street, the traffic of tram line No. 1 is currently stopped and the tram line No. 2 is temporarily running on a free schedule on the route Vana-Lõuna – Suur Paala. A replacement bus line is running between Kopli and Hobujaama tram stops.
Tallinn Marathon causes temporary changes to traffic
Next weekend, on September 10 and 11, the Tallinn Marathon will bring more than ten thousand runners from more than forty countries to Tallinn, causing several temporary changes to traffic and public transport in the city.
Tallinn renews red marking of cycle paths in dangerous sections
Tallinn is to refresh the red road markings of city centre cycle paths only in the most dangerous road sections, while physical separations between cycle paths and the road will be installed to make cycling safer.
A Buddy Bear statue unveiled in Tuvi Park as a sign of friendship between Germany and Estonia
This year, Germany and Estonia are celebrating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of the restoration of these relations, and on this occasion the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany presented the city of Tallinn with a Buddy Bear, designed by artist Julia Valtanen.
Cornerstone laid for Kadriorg park Orangery
Today, 4 January, the cornerstone was laid for the Kadriorg Park Economic Building (L. Koidula 34a, Tallinn). A modern building inspired by the historical orangery is under construction, part of which will be open to visitors in the future.
