First-grade school placements in Tallinn have been assigned
For the 2025/26 academic year, a total of 3,906 children have been assigned a place in the first grade of Tallinn’s municipal schools.
Kadrioru Park and City Centre parks lit up for the light festival
Organized every year at the beginning of autumn, the popular light festival, initially started in Kadrioru Park, has considerably expanded - this year, light installations will be lit both in Kadrioru Park and in many other parks in the City Centre.
Tallinn Day events to start with a street sweepers’ parade
On Tallinn Day, May 15, the traditional washing of the city streets will take place, which also marks the finish of this year’s Urban Maintenance Month. The street sweepers will start moving from Pirita road towards the city centre at 8 am.
Tallinn to restart partial mowing to fight weeds
Tallinn suspended mowing in city parks and green areas at the beginning of June to account for the dry period; however, it is now permitted to partially mow and remove by hand common orache and any other weeds whose spread inhibits the growth of more desirable, diverse green spaces.
Tallinn to assemble a Dutch elm disease commission
Tallinn will convene a special commission composed of dendrology experts, with the goal of developing methods of combating diseases that have begun to affect elm trees in the city.
Kadrioru Park orangery access street to undergo renovation
Starting Tuesday, January 2, reconstruction works will begin on Koidula Street, between Poska and Koidula 34a, to install utilities for the new orangery in Kadriorg Park.
One more school stadium in Tallinn open for public this summer
At the beginning of the summer, Tallinn opened fourteen school stadiums and sports grounds for public use, at least one in each district. From Friday 15 July, the Mustjõe Secondary School stadium in Haabersti district, located at Paldiski mnt 83, will be added to the list. In addition, four sports fields managed by the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department are open for public.
Tallinn the start and finish of Electric Marathon
On 28 August at 9.00, fifteen teams will set off from the centre of Tallinn for the electric vehicle marathon round Estonia, on the route Tallinn-Pärnu-Tartu-Tallinn.

Edgar Savisaar (31.05.1950 - 29.12.2022) was Mayor of Tallinn twice - from 2001 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2017.
