The month of May is dedicated to biodiversity in Tallinn’s urban environment and from 20 to 27 May, Tallinn Green Week with three international theme days will take place. Admirers of nature are welcome to take part in nature walks, bird singing evenings, open bee days and many other events.

The Härjapea River Bridge, believed to have been constructed in the 18th century, was uncovered during reconstruction works on the Jõe and Pronksi streets. Preserving the bridge would not cause significant changes in the construction work schedule.

The Tallinn City Government has allocated €2,000 from the reserve fund to the Tallinn Culture & Sports Department to support and acknowledge the achievements of Johannes Erm and his coach, Holger Peel, at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Deputy Mayor Kaarel Oja visited Odessa, Tallinn’s partner city in Ukraine on 11-14 May and met with the mayor, members of the City Government and local cultural figures. Starting today, the Tallinn Culture & Sports Department has opened a grant application for professional cultural projects targeted at people with disabilities. This initiative aims to enrich the city’s cultural calendar with events specifically designed for people with disabilities. The application deadline is March 8, 2024.

At the 16th annual Estonian food industry conference, winners of the "Best Estonian Food Product 2024" competition were announced, where OÜ Vegestar (branded as Thormi) received the traditional Tallinn Special Award for their vegan pâté with black truffle.

On Wednesday, May 15, and Saturday, May 18, both residents and visitors are invited to participate in the festivities of Tallinn Day, celebrating 776 years since Tallinn was granted city rights under Lübeck Law. The events kick off with a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Mayor at the Short Leg Gate, followed by the Mayor opening the doors of Tallinn Town Hall accompanied by the Tallinn Police Orchestra at 12:00.

This year, Tallinn Day celebrates the 776th anniversary of the granting of Lübeck rights. The festivities began on May 15 and will peak on Saturday, May 18, with several major events including the street festival Ghetto Games, the recycling festival UK Fest, the concert-performance "Multifaceted City," and much more. For the first time, Tallinn Night will also be celebrated as part of Tallinn Day.
