In October, the City of Tallinn offers residents a free and convenient way to hand over bulky waste, hazardous waste, and reusable items in an environmentally conscious manner.

The newly opened section now features pedestrian and bicycle paths, playgrounds and sports facilities, lighting, and much more to make moving through the urban space pleasant and safe.

The City of Tallinn is taking the next step in building a new tram line – preparations for the construction of the Pelguranna tram line are moving into the design phase. The new line will serve the neighborhoods of Pelguranna, Sitsi, Pelgulinn, Karjamaa, and Kalamaja, providing fast and convenient connections to the city center. It will also improve mobility options for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Swedbank Tallinn Marathon and Tallinna Sügisjooks (Autumn Run) will take place on the weekend of 13–14 September, bringing tens of thousands of running enthusiasts to the districts of Põhja-Tallinn, Kesklinn, and Haabersti. As a result, there will be temporary changes to traffic and public transport.

In the 2025/26 academic year, there are 60 municipal general education schools in Tallinn, with approximately 47,000 students enrolled. Around 3,700 children are starting first grade. The city also provides a start-of-school-year allowance for students up to the age of 19.

During the last two weekends of October, residents of Tallinn can once again give away hazardous waste free of charge. On October 23, hazardous waste are collected in Kesklinn and Lasnamäe, on October 24 in Kristiine and Põhja-Tallin, on October 30 in Pirita and Mustamäe, and on October 31 in Haabersti and Nõmme.

During the last two weekends of August - August 21 to 22, and August 27 to 29 - Tallinn will organize vaccination against COVID-19 in schools. Students aged 12-18, their families, but also other residents are expected to get vaccinated. There is no need to pre-register for vaccination in schools.

Two tenders were submitted for the Tallinn public procurement to find a designer for the Pollinator Highway linear park on the section between Ristiku Street and Kolde Boulevard.

During the Ironman triathlon and events connected to the competition, several streets will be closed, parking will be limited and there will be changes to public transport services and their timetables on 7-8 August.

People’s awareness on environmental issues expands with every year and with it an interest in sorting household waste. Thus, it is important to reiterate the principles for sorting waste in order to keep our environment clean and to promote waste recycling and reusing.
