This weekend opens Green Mobility Month, Estonia puiestee partially closed to traffic
On Saturday and Sunday, 4-5 September, Tallinn celebrates the beginning of the Green Mobility Month and holds an event “Green Journey in the Heart of the City”, which will take place on Estonia puiestee and Tammsaare Park to raise awareness about green mobility and encourage sustainable means of transport.
Some one-way roads now also allow bicycle traffic in the opposite direction
Some one-way roads in Tallinn have had traffic signs installed that permit bicycle traffic in the opposite direction as well. More places like this will be created, as installation of signs on several streets began last week.
Tallinn Waste Centre installs new reusable clothing containers in city
Tallinn Waste Centre will install 20 new containers for reusable clothing in the city this year. The first five new containers are located at Hiiu tänav 39, Haabersti tänav 1, Jõeküla tee 13, Endla tänav 23a and at the packaging point at the intersection of Magasin and Vaikse streets.
Green wave traffic system introduced on Liivalaia Street, pedestrian crossings unaffected
Starting in October, a "green wave" traffic system will be implemented on Liivalaia Street, allowing motor vehicles to move more smoothly. Traffic lights will be programmed in such a way that full pedestrian crossings will remain intact.
