The Tallinn urban area has dozens of public fountains, where everyone can get free clean drinking water, something especially important in hot weather.

From September 18 to October 8, all residents of Tallinn have the opportunity to submit their ideas for projects to be included in next year's participatory budget. Anyone interested can participate in an informative webinar today at 17:30 on Microsoft Teams.

During the 13th Youth Song and Dance Festival from 30 June to 2 July, the city of Tallinn will have special buses leaving the city centre, make some public transport lines run more frequently and create designated parking areas for bicycles and scooters. Tallinn’s public transport is free for all passengers during the big celebration – from 30 June to 2 July.

During this year's final free large waste disposal week from November 20-26, Tallinn's waste treatment plants received seven times more large waste than in a typical week of November. Throughout the year, residents brought a total of 5,592.17 cubic meters of waste to the waste treatment plants, equivalent to approximately 70 truckloads of large waste.

During the free bulky waste disposal week on 21-27 August, seven times more bulky waste was brought to waste stations than on an average August week.

In the first week of January, the Tallinn Welfare and Health Care Department will move to new premises, and most of the staff will be working remotely during this time. From January 8 onwards, the department will be located at Endla 8.

In the recently begun school year, 48,700 students started their studies in 58 Tallinn municipal general education schools. A school place is guaranteed for all students living in Tallinn whose parents have applied for it.

During the upcoming Christmas holidays and New Year period, residents can access urgent healthcare services at all city hospitals' emergency departments, at Tallinn Dental Clinic (Tallinna Hambakliinik) and can contact the Family Doctor's Advice Line (Perearsti nõuandetelefon) at 1220.

A week ago, the official beach season ended at five public beaches in Tallinn, and 38 G4S beach guards, who ensured safety and order during the summer, also finished their work. This year’s season passed calmly and without major problems.

From Thursday next week, 1 June, the separate collection of bio-waste will become mandatory on all properties in Tallinn, regardless of the intended purpose or number of apartments.
