The year 2022 will bring close to ninety high-level international competitions to Tallinn, including twenty-one World and European Championships as well as World and European Cups. In total, Tallinn will support hosting international sports events with more than €865,000 this year.
The ‘Place Buzz’ installation competition of Tallinn, the European Green Capital, were chosen as finalists out of 1450 applications by the prestigious pan-European New European Bauhaus contest. The people's favourite will be selected at the contest as well.
The City of Tallinn, in collaboration with the TalTech Academy of Architecture and Urban Studies, is set to present its neighbourhood-based renovation initiative SOFTacademy at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Opening on 10 May, the exhibition brings the modernist residential district of Mustamäe into the international spatial dialogue.
Last summer, Tallinn launched a public architectural competition seeking a concept for Koidu Street as both a residential street and the main thoroughfare of the Uue-Maailma district. The winning entry, titled "Kohalik (Local)," was designed by the architects Tristan Krevald, Ra Martin Puhkan, Siim Tanel Tõnisson, and Madis Eek of OÜ Stuudio Täna.
The architecture competition for the planned kindergarten in the Manufactory quarter, organized by the City of Tallinn, has been won by the architectural firm Creatomus Solutions OÜ with their design "Hiiepuu." The authors of the design are Renee Puusepp, Patric Liik, Jelyzaveta Peresada, Aline Aparecida Cabral de Carvalho, Marija Katrina Dambe, Florian Betat, Juris Dambis, Kiur Lootus, and Eva-Maria Truusalu.
